About us
Camelot Ltd was founded in 1992. In 1994, the company introduced exclusive long-filler cigars onto the Croatian market for the first time.
These were Dunhill Aged cigars produced in the Dominican Republic.
Unfortunately, the cigars were on the market for just a short time. This was because the producer could not meet the demand of the newly-opened markets, as the American market, as a result of a new cigar-smoking trend, simply swallowed virtually the entire world production outside of Cuba. The shortage in supply was a fortunate opportunity for the Croatian market, as the world’s most famous cigars became available here instead.
In 1995, Camelot introduced famous Cuban cigars onto the Croatian market. The assortment was a rich one, as it covered all the most celebrated types of cigar such as: Montecristo, Cohiba, Partagas, Romeo y Julieta, H. Upmann, etc, with all Cuban producers being represented through Habanos S.A.
In response to signals from the market, along with the growing trend of appreciating luxuries, which had moved from America to Europe, and having met the demands of loyal customers, at the end of 1999 Camelot opened its first specialised Havana Cigar Shop, a constituent part of which is a separate room for storing cigars – a walk-in humidor. This cigar shop, located in the centre of the capital, soon became insufficient for satisfying the growing demand for top-quality cigars. Therefore, just before the summer of 2000, yet another Camelot cigar shop was opened: Havana Dubrovnik.
At the same time, a Swiss company with a great tradition and omnipresent brand, Oettinger Imex AG-Davidoff International, selected Camelot as its exclusive agent and importer into the Croatian market for the Davidoff cigar, cigar set and a pipe tobacco assortment.
Encouraged by its positive business experiences in Zagreb and Dubrovnik and the excellent response from its customers, Camelot plans to open Havana Cigar Shops in all the major towns and resorts in Croatia through its sales network or through a network of authorised business partners.
Sales authorisation is extremely important, as customers in Croatia and Slovenia are being exposed to fake and poor quality cigars.
In 2007, a Havana Cigar Shop was opened in the heart of Ljubljana, when Camelot became the exclusive distributor for the Republic of Slovenia too.
Camelot Ltd extended its range by importing Cuban premium coffee and extremely rare French champagnes and cognacs, and also Scottish single malt whiskies from the Part des Anges assortment.
